Ants in Seattle Compared to the Eastside

May 5th, 2016 by Brandon Bradshaw

Over the years we’ve noticed something quite obvious….Seattle has ants….and lots of them! Below is a graphic showing the locations of our one-time ant treatments over the last year or so.

Ants Seattle vs Eastside

When you look at this graphic you see that there is a lot of red in Seattle as compared to the Eastside cities, such as Bellevue, Sammamish, Kirkland, Redmond, and Issaquah. So why are there so many ants in Seattle? My thoughts on ants are that wherever homes are built closer together, you will have a bigger ant problem, especially with odorous house ants (OHA’s). OHA’s have very large and complex colonies that cover city blocks. More than likely if you’re in Seattle and have an ant problem, part of that nest is located at your house, your neighbor’s house, your other neighbor’s house, your neighbor’s neighbor, and beyond! This is why in Seattle we recommend our quarterly service as opposed to our one-time treatments. It can take a few treatments to get rid of them, and once gone, if your neighbors have ants, it’s possibly those ants will return.

Contact us today and we’d be glad to help with your ants!
